I can't sympathize with pro athletes .. A sharecropper is one step away from a slave.. The differene between a SLAVE and a Pro Athletic(sic) is at minimum 5 million dollars!!!!!!!!!!!! Plzzz..
Kamau Atem NO. You can not, must not be jealous of what one has. Wealth given in abundance must be shared equally. It is a difficult spiritual lesson but it is truth...Just because the numbers are larger does not mean there is no discrimination. To do otherwise is simply to objectify those individuals, yet again. No one asks for sympathy, what is sought is equal treatment. Allow them to be treated unequally and this attitude only "trickles down" to every strata of society. Your boss who accepts it as fine that there is inequality in NFL contracts, lets say, will only believe the same is fine in your contract...Unnerstand?Above is an interaction from facebook. The commenter has a view point shared by many who read my work on Racism in Pro Sports for the first time. I understand it and love her misconception that Pro Athletes get paid a minimum. It is difficult to see why racism toward millionaires would be worthy of a blog, of my time. But my answer is standard and you see it above next to my facebook pic.
You see this is about the big picture. Fighting racism is hard. It's like fighting people's minds. And in doing so you have to fight everywhere the mind may dwell, any food the mind may eat. Pro Sports, like every entertainment is a powerful drug in America. It's influencing your enemies and making them friends. It unites them in their negative thinking all across the land due in large part to the power of the air waves. Understand it this way, it's not just the Klan at home teaching Little Johnny how to think that you have to worry about any more, but the talking heads and the General Managers telling them and showing them how it's gonna be to use updated phraseology as well.
I like Pro Sports. Luv football. So here I fight. Find your niche. Come join the war and let us see what a world we may create. I'll say it again. It's hard. But behind closed doors, I'm making a difference. This past spring the NFL held its 1st Historically Black College and University scouting event giving brothers an opportunity. Ya think the black beast had something to do with its success? Every time I get an email or some other communication from someone I always say it...Ya never know who reads the beast.... and ya never know how they change their life because of it....
I may not reap the direct benefits of what The Beast produces but Karma is a mutha...
especially here at The Black beast. And believe me I got a lot a good comin' especially cause a The Beast... And I do it because it should be done cause I'm a big picture kinda guy.
You'll always get a big picture, here at The Black Beast.
